Parks and Gardens

Norwich’s green spaces are something to be proud of. We’re the only English city in a national park, for starters (the Broads, if you’re wondering). From spring’s brilliantly pink blossom to crunching gold leaves in autumn, it’s easy to act natural here no matter the time of year.

For picnic lovers, munch on food from the market on St Gregory’s Green or settle in for the afternoon on the banks of the River Wensum. If you want to get lost in a good book, we suggest the herb garden at Cathedral Close (a hidden gem that smells as good as it looks). And you can get out on the water too- spot more green spaces dotted along its meandering route. Don’t forget Plantation Garden. This peaceful haven of flora and fauna is an oasis amid the bustling city.

Let the little ones run around in Chapelfield Gardens or head slightly out of the centre to Norwich’s heritage parks. At Eaton Park find mini golf, mini railways and mini boats; at Waterloo Park stroll beneath beautiful wisteria-clad walkways. With wonderful panoramic views of the city skyline, Mousehold Heath is a must for sunrises and sunsets alike. And that’s all before we head out into our county’s varied countryside.
