Castle Quarter is set to host a free fun-filled day for visitors this May half term with the rare chance to meet alpacas, miniature horses, tortoises and many more animals. It’s the latest in the centre’s ongoing programme of family-friendly and free events.

Taking place on Wednesday 29th May between 12pm until 4pm, anyone can head to the centre’s Castle Gardens to have an exciting animal encounter, with no need to book.

Unicorn Alpaca Walks, based in Shipmeadow near Beccles, will be visiting on the day, bringing along some rare breed and exotic animals from their rescue centre too. Their animal sanctuary, Happily Ever After, offers a loving, caring home to exotic animals and rare breeds, who need looking after.

Lucie Etheridge, chief volunteer and co-owner of the alpaca’s home, Wilderley Farm, says; “We’re excited to be making the journey to Castle Quarter to share our beautiful animals with visitors of all ages. The alpacas are real characters and have a unique ability to spread happiness and make people smile. They are amazing therapy, and we work a lot on helping people with their mental wellbeing. We’ll also be bringing along some of our rescue animals for you to meet from Happily Ever After, our animal sanctuary where we specialise in rescuing and rehoming rare breeds, exotic mammals, and local wildlife. We can’t wait to meet everyone at Castle Quarter, where our animal handlers can share lots of facts about our creatures and assist some visitors as they take the alpacas on a mini walk around the gardens too.”

Gemma Hyde, marketing and administration manager from Castle Quarter adds; “Our May half term event is set to be a joyful day, giving visitors an unforgettable experience. There’ll be the chance to meet new animal friends and learn lots about some slightly more unusual creatures. We’re all about bringing new, unique, and unexpected experiences into the centre, giving our visitors an intriguing, fun and interactive day out, all for no cost. Simply head to the Castle Gardens between 12pm and 4pm, and keep a look out for the alpacas, tortoises, miniature horses, exotic animals, and lots more.”
