Although we can’t deny the temptation of a chocolate egg (or two!), Easter is also a time for making memories with loved ones. So, with two weeks of school holidays to enjoy, there’s loads to keep the family occupied in the City of Stories and beyond!  
 
From egg-cellent egg hunts (always a favourite) to spellbinding shows and fun-filled activities. Whether you’re visiting friends, spending quality time with family or you’re here on holiday, there are so many egg-citing events (indoor and out!) in Norwich and Norfolk this Easter.

There’s plenty to keep us all occupied at Norwich Puppet Theatre this Easter

Everyone loves getting lost in the magic of a story right? At Norwich Puppet Theatre, this Easter, there’s a whole host of puppet performances to enjoy, including an Easter panto (oh, yes, there is)! 

Start with Snow White, Rose Red, Bear Brown (Saturday 28 March, 11am & 2.30pm, adults £13.50, children £11.50) and follow twins Snow White and Rose Red as they discover why a friendly bear wants to join them. Then, Mother Goose (31 March – 4 April, 11am, 2.30pm & 7.30pm, adults £16, children £12) brings all the magic and hilarity you’d expect from a panto! Think outrageous villains (boo), glittering fairy magic and plenty of surprises! 

Later in the holidays, Hay (Sunday 5 April, 11am & 2.30pm, adults £13.50, children £11.50) is an accessible show exploring how one word can have many meanings as Farmer Geenie’s scarecrow grows up and discover his countryside home. Meanwhile, The Detective Dog (7 & 8 March, 11am & 2.30pm, adults £14.50, children £12.50) is adapted from Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie’s much-loved tale with BSL, captions and spoken word and made with d/Deaf families in mind, and Norwich Puppet Theatre’s own production Hello Egg (6 – 11 April, 10.30am, 12.15pm & 1.30pm, adults £13.50, children £11.50) is an ideal introduction to early years. Think interactive textures, bright colours and, from the comfort of cushions, a heartwarming story of a curious little mouse who finds a mysterious big egg!

No Phone Zone at Mulligans

Forget your phone and immerse yourself in Mulligans exciting activities

It’s time to make memories and enjoy hours of family fun at Mulligans this Easter! Their No Phone Zone encourages all ages to swap screen time for game time, put your phones away and embrace the excitement of crazy golf, electro darts, rebound shuffleboard and loads more. There are even their brand new technology-infused ‘tech-golf’ games to try!

And that’s not all, Kids Eat Free throughout the holidays when you purchase a full-priced adults meal. Now there’s no excuse for a little friendly family competition!

Easter at Norwich’s Museums

Get involved with crafts, dress-up and object-handling with Norfolk Museums Service

Norwich’s museums always offer the exciting chance to get hands-on with history come the school holidays and this Easter is no different!

At Strangers’ Hall, discover the Colourful Past of Victorian interiors, following their historic colour trail through the museum’s fascinating Victorian rooms (select dates from 28 March – 11 April, 10am – 4pm, adults from £7.10, children from £6.20, £2 twilight ticket 1 hour before closing). Find out how they made their colours- it wasn’t all natural- and create your own paint names!

Take inspiration from the Museum of Norwich with their Made in Norwich craft activity (28 March – 11 April, excludes Mondays & Sundays, 10am – 4.30pm, adults from £8.20,  children from £6.90, £2.50 twilight ticket 1 hour before closing). Design you very own paper Easter bonnet and let your imagination run wild- whether you’re drawing or cutting and sticking! And there will be special object-handling sessions on Tuesdays (10.30am – 12.30pm & 1.30pm – 3.30pm) from the museum’s Made in Norwich collection. Keep an eye out for hidden chicks during your visit!

Meanwhile Norwich Castle is full of Saints, Knights and Easter Delights (28 March – 13 April, 10am – 3pm, adults from £15.30, children from £13.05, £2.50 twilight ticket 1 hour before closing)! Step back in time to medieval Norwich and get hands-on with armour, meet the characters and help them carry out their jobs in the Great Hall and try out your best fighting moves in the Knight Club. Then it’s time to create your own peg-doll saints, angels and devils before a saintly trail through the Gallery of Medieval Life.

Gaming-Themed Events at Castle Quarter

Step into the world of Super Mario at Castle Quarter this Easter

Start you engines! Castle Quarter is bringing a jam-packed two weeks full of gaming to Norwich this Easter!

Didi Car racing (Thursday 2 April, 10am – 4pm, FREE, 3 – 12 years) arrives for one day only, bringing with it a rush of adrenaline. See how fast you can speed around the inflatable course- the fastest racer will win a special prize! After all the Mario Kart-esque excitement, you can meet icons Mario and Luigi in real life, matching overalls, moustaches and all (Thursday 9 April, 11am – 3pm, FREE), before taking part in an arcade racing challenge (Thursday 9 April, 11am – 3pm, FREE). Go head to head with friends and family on the arcade’s e-racers and battle it out to become the fastest (there’s a Retro Replay voucher up for grabs!).

And throughout the two weeks, see if you can find all the hidden mushrooms, gold coins and power-up symbols with the Kingdom Quest Treasure Trail (30 March – 12 April, FREE). Hiding in shop windows across Castle Quarter, see if you can find them all and complete the trail sheet.

Creative Workshops at Yalm

Yalm’s creative Easter workshops invite you to go wild with your imagination with Little Craft Hutt and get lost in the joy of crafting for an hour or two. With two sessions specifically designed for 5 – 9 years and 10+ years, every age will find something to keep them occupied. As long as you don’t mind getting a little messy, all you need to bring is the energy!

And at the end of it, you’ll have a special creation to take home and a small Easter-themed treat too.

Hop along to Chantry Place this Easter weekend for an egg-stra fun day of activities! Think free entertainment and the chance to win an egg-citing prize.

There will be a visit from the Easter Bunny himself, ready to treat little ones to a chocolatey gift. (If you’re lucky enough to receive the golden egg, you could even win a prize!) Then brighten up your visit even more with Easter-inspired face painting (Lower Ground)- you can pick the design!- and magical entertainment (Dining Terrace). Every hour, you’ll be treated to incredible tricks and balloon modelling- not to mention a fun creation to take home.

Big Sunday: Signs of Spring at the Sainsbury Centre

Follow the Sculpture Park trail for the first signs of spring!

Every first Sunday of the month, the Sainsbury Centre invite families to dive into a series of hands-on creative activities where you can explore, look, draw and more with their welcoming Learning Team.

In honour of Easter Sunday, the art museum will be celebrating the first signs of spring with a special indoor and outdoor trail! The trail starts at the Sculpture Park- where art meets nature and sculpture intertwines with greenery. As you follow the trail, speak about what you see and draw any observations before making a postcard or badge inspired by your journey!

Redwell’s Easter activity day promises to be full of egg-citement!

Redwell Brewery’s popular activity day returns with an Easter twist! Think Easter egg hunt (with a prize at the end for the most eagle-eyed), crafts, including make your own bunny mask, and traditional games like a sack race, egg and spoon and pin the tail on the bunny!

The Goat Shed’s sell-out event returns this Easter!  

Known for their long, floppy ears and distinctive brown and white hair, the Goat Shed’s friendly Boer herd is expecting! This is your chance to meet and cuddle their newest arrivals and grab the perfect photo with the ‘coolest kids on the block’ (sorry).  

Sessions last 20 minutes, so you’ll have loads of time in the goat pen, and enjoy watching the kids as they bounce, bleat and show off!
