Norwich’s Festive Lights Switch-On
St Peters Street in front of City Hall will be the place to be to put the twinkle into the build-up to Christmas with the Norwich Festive Lights Switch-on on Thursday 14 November.
This year’s Festive Lights Switch-On event will run from 5:30pm to 7:05pm, with the lights being switched on at 7pm from the stage in front of City Hall by Norfolk comedy legend Owen Evans, from double act The Nimmo Twins, who is appearing in Aladdin at Norwich Theatre Royal this festive period.
Entertainment will feature YouTube sensation ‘East Anglian Boy’ Leon Mallett and up-and-coming pop starlet Juliet, with panto fun with Triple Threat Theatre. There will be a Christmas Disco from The Catton Grove Allstars, a festive performance from Framtastics Gymnastics, the traditional ‘ho-ho-ho’ from Father Christmas and blessings for the festive season by the Revd Canon Edward Carter from St Peter Mancroft Church.
Following the Switch-On, there will be more entertainment on Gentleman’s Walk with a brass band playing seasonal favourites, many Norwich Market stalls remaining open through to 8pm for foodie treats and Christmas shopping opportunities, and a funfair offering thrills from 4.30pm until late.
On 2 November Chantry Place will be launching their spectacular Christmas lights, including Santa’s sleigh and an 8-meter Christmas tree inside – plus, a new walkthrough Christmas present photo opportunity on Chantry Square.
