Join the Book Hive on Wednesday 12th of June when we welcome revelatory philosopher Timothy Morton to The Octagon Chapel, in support of their new book, ‘Hell’.
Morton has been called ‘one of the world’s top 50 thinkers’ (Prospect magazine), has been described by the Guardian as “the philosopher prophet of the Anthropocene”, has collaborated with the likes of Björk and Laurie Anderson, and has been in conversation with luminaries such as Slavoj Žižek and Hans Ulrich Obrist.
In ‘Hell’, Morton argues that there is an unexpected yet profound relationship between ecology and spirituality that can guide a planet-scale response to the climate crisis. Spiritual and mystical feelings have a deep resonance with ecological thinking, and together they provide the resources environmentalism desperately needs in this time of climate emergency.
This is a rare chance to see Timothy as they live and work in the US. In fact, this is one of only two UK appearances – one in London, and one here in Norwich. Which means that we’re putting East Anglia at the forefront of contemporary, revelatory thinking!
