Inspirational public art museum in a world-class Norman Foster building at the University of East Anglia (UEA), set in acres of countryside.
The Sainsbury Centre is home to modern and world art spanning 5,000 years of human creativity, donated by Lord and Lady Sainsbury. With regular special exhibitions and a programme of events, there’s always something new to see.
Most recently, the Sainsbury Centre became the first museum in the world to see art as sentient. As a result, they launched their new ‘Art is Living’ display, a permanent feature dedicated to this concept. Now, you can hug Henry Moore’s Mother and Child sculpture (yes, you can touch), lie in a hammock and tell a secret to an Alberto Giacometti portrait, experience being enclosed and on display in a showcase, having described yourself on a label, and so much more. It’s a spectacular must-visit for children and adults of all ages.
Don’t forget to visit the spectacular Sculpture Park in 300 acres of grounds, including works by Henry Moore, Elizabeth Frink and Antony Gormley.
Entry to the museum is free (visitors are asked to pay if and what you can).
