It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming 2022 and yet, in the blink of an eye, here we are, about to celebrate the New Year all over again! As the calendars hit January once more the question is, will you be trying out Veganuary this year?
For those of you who are giving it a go, for those who think it’ll be a walk in the park, and those who can’t think of anything harder, this city is host to some of the best vegan food in the country to help you along – here’s our favourites!
There’s no better place start the month than with Tofurei. This café tucked away in the Norwich Lanes is 100% vegan, and with plenty of choice, you’ll start to think Veganuary is a lot easier than it seems!
Tofurei even make their own tofu from locally grown soya beans, providing you a mix of wonderful savoury and sweet dishes. Head down to St Gregory’s Alley to pop in and say hello!
Sticking to the Norwich Lanes, this family-run Italian restaurant is not only the home of great vegan pizza, but amazing paninis and focaccias too! Fancy a quick snack on the move? Or maybe you’re feeling a relaxed lunch eating-in? Saporita is the perfect place for both!
They even offer unlimited pizza on Saturday nights from £20pp, so you can really get your fill of Italian flavour! Located on St Andrews Hill opposite the Cosy Club, you really can’t miss it!
If you’re looking for a meal like no other in Norwich, Benedicts is the place for you. Run by Chef Owner, Richard Bainbridge, alongside his wife, Katja, this contemporary restaurant offers seasonal menus with local ingredients to wow your tastebuds!
There are even two vegan menus, so there’s no such thing as being left out here, however you will need to pre-order ahead of your meal for either of them. The clue is in the name, you can find this restaurant on St Benedicts Street!
There’s nothing worse than not being able to decide what you want to eat at a restaurant… Thankfully, The Tipsy Vegan is here to help! Small, vegan plates are at the heart of what they do, meaning you can have as much or as little as you want to fill yourself up!
From mushroom wellington bites to chilli and cheese quesadillas, there’s a range of cuisine to satisfy everyone. Fancy taking it up a notch? Their cocktails are just as good as their food! You can find the Tipsy Vegan on St Benedicts Street.
Anyone for an Indian? Namaste Village serve a wide range of authentic Indian food, all from a 100% vegan and vegetarian menu, meaning you won’t be breaking your Veganuary pledge while getting your fix!
Namaste Village even let you choose the spice level on most of their mains, so nothing will put you off ordering what sounds good! The question is… how hot do you dare to go? You can find Namaste Village on the very outskirts of Norwich in the Business District on Queens Road.
One of Norwich’s longest-standing vegan restaurants, Erpingham House paved the way for many of the establishments we see today, and their gorgeous decoration is an added bonus!
There’s so much to enjoy from this plant-based, plastic-free, mostly gluten-free restaurant, with different menus for all occasions! The main menu has a range of small and larger plates to enjoy, and they even offer takeaway for those on the move. Found in Tombland, it’s not a hard place to spot!
If you’re a fan of falafel, you’ll love Moorish Falafel Bar! This vegan takeaway in the Norwich Lanes is in its tenth year of serving freshly prepared plant-based dishes, sweet treats, and constantly changing specials!
From salads to burgers, wraps to ice cream, there’s truly a flavour for everyone which will leave you wanting more (just like the name suggests!) Give them a visit on Lower Goat Lane!
Whatever you need, you’ll find it on the Norwich Market, and delicious vegan food is no exception to this rule! Open throughout the day Monday – Saturday, there’s so much variety to last you the whole week!
With vendors offering either full vegan menus or vegan options, such as Lucy’s Chips, Indian Feast, Bun Box, Falafel & Friends, Bodega, Cuppie Hut, and so much more, your only struggle will be choosing what to have!
