When it comes to spending the school holidays in Norwich and Norfolk, we’ve got loads of fun, family-friendly events and attractions to choose from.
And thanks to the British weather, that means indoors as well as outdoors! Whether you’re a young family ready to get outside, get involved and use up some energy, or you’re looking for workshops, performances or festivals for tweens and teens.
From colder months to scorching summers and everything in between, there’s loads on offer throughout the seasons to keep all ages occupied. (And that goes for bank holidays too!)
Take a look below at our recommendations for many memorable days out!
There’s plenty to do indoors and outdoors during February
The first half term of the year soon comes around. And with it, loads of activities to keep you entertained. Take a trip on the Teddy Bear Express, try a workshop, show or talk at the always highly anticipated Norwich Science Festival, or get tickets for the reopening of our zoos and adventure parks!
Easter always has loads of terrific trails to complete
You can’t deny that Easter is an egg-citing time of year. Blue skies and sunshine bring joy, bright yellow daffodils add a pop of colour and, of course, the all-important Easter eggs line supermarket shelves! So, it’s easy to keep busy across these two weeks- look out for trails galore, Easter markets, and bake a chocolate nest or two.
Get outdoors during May’s warmer weather!
With the last half term of the school year, it’s a great excuse to relax with friends and family. While older students are revising for their exams, a trip to the coast or the Norfolk Broads or walk at a nature reserve is just the treat. The start of summer also marks festival season! Enjoy the week at Norwich Games Festival and Norfolk and Norwich Festival.
Embrace the summer sun in Norwich’s glorious green spaces
The summer holidays aka the big one. With more time comes loads more to do across the city, whether it’s a day out with the little ones, a few hours spent with the grandparents or perhaps a week away for the whole family. This is when Norwich and Norfolk’s green spaces and outdoor attractions really come into their own. (Picnics recommended!)
Pick pumpkins during October half term!
Boo! Spooky season is upon us. Time to dress up and embrace the fun of Halloween before the festive season starts. There’s trick or treat-themed trails to enjoy, plenty of places to go pumpkin picking, frightfully good workshops and thrilling ghost tours for the bravest of us!
What’s Christmas without a visit to Father Christmas?
Christmastime is the perfect season to spend with family, especially with children. And Norwich is a winter wonderland of fantastically festive things to do. From merry music and entertaining films to laugh-out-loud pantos, trips to see sparkling lights, and, of course, a visit to Father Christmas. It’s easy to get in the spirit!
