I am running a makers market on behalf of the local charity “The Feed” to help raise funds for them to continue the amazing work they do for our community. (please see their website https://thefeed.org.uk/ for more information.)
The Market will be held on Saturday 23rd of November and Sunday 24th of November. Open from 10am-3pm both days.
I work for a construction company called Morgan Sindall and each year we support a charity. This year “The Feed” was chosen, so I have been thinking of new ways we can raise money for them.
As I have my own small business (brand called Reel Rebellion, ethically minded embroidered clothing and accessories brand) alongside my full time position at Morgan Sindall, I decided doing a charity makers market would be a great idea! What better way for a charity to benefit from donations, but also that local makers will also have the space to sell their products. Charities and small businesses supporting each other seemed like such a great opportunity!
Instead of the pitch fees from the makers going back to the business that organises the event, they are going straight to “The Feed” as one big donation.
So far with 30 makers to shop from, we have managed to raise over £1500 just in pitch fees! There will also be a raffle to be won, which will be packed full of kind donations from the makers who will be selling at the market, as well as a big box of homemade brownies from “The Feed.” Tickets will be available to purchase at £2 each from when the market opens at 10am-3pm on Saturday, and then again from 10am until 1:30pm on the Sunday. Winners (as there may be 3) will be announced from 2pm on the Sunday before the market ends at 3pm.
There will be a great range of makers, from seasoned marketers to first timers. All with an amazing range of products, such as illustrations, ceramics, jewellery, apparel, wax melts etc.
