Following an international tour in China, Temper Theatre are bringing their highly acclaimed production HOME to Norwich for the first time.
HOME uses Temper Theatre’s signature combination of physical movement, revolving sets, innovative staging and cinematic technique to confront climate change and investigate themes of belonging, memory and relocation, accompanied by original music composed by Dave Price (National Theatre, RSC, Gecko).
Addressing the urgency around environmental issues and climate change, HOME uses the at-risk landscape of East Anglia’s Fenlands as a foundation for this compelling journey battling the elements and time.
We follow Imogen as she returns to her childhood home, confronting vivid visions of a haunted bygone wilderness to reconnect with the beauty
and hope that lies beyond the tangled recollections of our past.
Returning to his own childhood home in East Anglia, Finn Morrell found his relationship with the transformative lands a profound inspiration for HOME. He comments:
“I am thrilled to bring HOME to Norwich for the first time. This city, rich in history and community spirit, feels like the perfect place to share a story so close to my heart. The people of Norwich know all too well the impact of flooding—a force that shapes our landscapes and lives. HOME was inspired by my unexpected journey back to the Fens, a place I once saw as a dead-end swamp. Returning to help my family move, I was overwhelmed by emotions that transformed my understanding of what “home” truly means. The familiar flatlands became a vibrant waterland filled with history and stories. Through this production, I hope to shine a new light on universal feelings of home, friendship, family, and the power of community.”
