Norwich is a veritable haven for foodies, with its wide range of fine dining experiences, street food eats, independent restaurants and quirky pop-up food festivals. And now there’s a new way to experience the delicious cuisine on offer in Norwich with dino-dining as part of the City Food Trail.
This summer, dinosaurs are taking over the City of Stories with the arrival of Dippy, the Natural History Museum’s diplodocus cast at Norwich Cathedral, and Break’s GoGoDiscover T.rex trail. And to celebrate, Norwich Business Improvement District has created a dino-themed food trail across the city, so you can join in the prehistoric fun. Running from Monday 12th July – Sunday 22nd August, make sure you book yourself a table to sample some mouth-watering delights!
Whether you’re a lover of food looking to try exciting new dishes, wanting a fun family meal out, or just looking to catch up with friends, you won’t want to miss this T.rex-ific event! Read on for a round-up of some of the fantastic menu items you’ll be able to find.

The Norwich City Food Trail starts on 12th July
Looking for hunger-busting food that’s fit for someone with a dinosaur-sized appetite? Well, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into.
Louis Marchesi, 17 Tombland
Louis Marchesi is a traditional pub is a great spot for families to head to after a busy day seeing Dippy and searching the city for T.rex sculptures. To satisfy hungry kids, grab a Brontosaurus Burger with Jurassic Fries, which comes with a soft drink and a dinosaur gift bag for only £8!
Don’t worry, there’s treats for the parents too. Try a Tyrannosaurus Tanqueray with fever tree tonic infused with lemon and rosemary, or a Raptor Cocktail, straight from Jurassic Park, with vodka, coconut rum, Midori, blue curacao, and soda. Both only £6.
Franks Bar, 19 Bedford Street
Fancy some Pterodactyl Wings? Enjoy a plate of Norfolk chicken wings marinated in a lightly spiced sauce at Franks Bar. Or if you’d prefer a vegetarian option, you can go for Stegosaurus Dips; blue corn tortilla chips with a trio of veggie dips.
Wash it down with The Velociraptor, made with ginger ale, orange juice and grenadine, or a Jurassic Julep with bourbon, peach and mint.
SALT, 21 St John Maddermarket
For a filling lunch, stop off at SALT. Famous for their delicious sandwiches, you’ll have no trouble devouring their Meatball Marinara Sub’osaurus. Roasted beef meatballs, marinara sauce, and grilled parmesan in a homemade brioche sub roll. Sounds scrumptious.

Logans, 5 Swan Lane
Speaking of sandwiches, Logans will have a whole Dinosaur’s Specials Board to choose from. There’s the Barney, with mozzarella, tomato, rocket, red onion, and pesto in a toasted bagel. The T-Rex baguette features hot sliced beef, Mexicana cheese, salsa and rocket. Or you can try the Velociraptor panini with turkey, streaky bacon, cheddar cheese, and onion marmalade. For a tasty vegan option, tuck into the Stegosaurus, a focaccia with chickpeas, avocado, red onion, spinach, and basil mayonnaise. And lastly, there’s the DoYouThinkHeSawUs, a tempting baguette filled with pastrami, mixed leaves, gherkins, and Colman’s mustard mayonnaise.

Tofurei, 10 St Gregory’s Alley
A vegan café in the heart of Norwich, Tofurei is the place to turn for a sweet treat (or two, or three! We won’t judge.) Drink a warming a soy latte whilst you savour a slice of Dino Nest Cake. Ideal for a late morning pick-me-up, perhaps after a trip to see Dippy at the Cathedral?

Namaste Village, 131-139 Queens Road
Famed for its fantastic vegetarian and vegan Indian cuisine, Namaste Village has on the menu a Diplodocus Dosa. Vegan and gluten free, it’s a rice and lentil pancake stuffed with spiced potato mash, in a ginormous family size. Perfect for sharing.
The Green Eatery, 2a Opie Street
A 100 percent vegan outlet, The Green Eatery is ideal for a pocket-friendly meal out. Now with a brand new Buurrp Menu for those with a dino-sized hunger. With the regular menu boasting items such as kofta katsu curry, masala chips and vegetable Thai green curry, we can’t wait to see what they serve up.

Christophe’s Crepes, Davey Place & 12A Pottergate
If you haven’t already had a fresh crepe from Christophe’s, you’ve been missing out. But whether you’re going for the first time, or as a returning customer (like us), you’ll definitely want to try their dino-themed creation; the Stegosaurus Back. Made with mini Dutch pancakes and banana, with milk chocolate buttons as the stegosaurus’ back. It’s then lavishly topped with Nutella, chopped hazelnuts and strawberries.

The Waffle House, 39 St Giles Street
Fans of chocolate beware, you’re about to start drooling. The Waffle House is serving up a Jurassic Pot with erupting chocolate mousse volcano, salted caramel lava, chocolate soil, dinosaur cookie and dino eggs. We don’t know about you, but we’re going to book our table there sooner rather than later…
Figbar, 23 St John Maddermarket
For a fun dino-creation that the kids will love, head over to Figbar for a Dino Funfetti Shortbread Biscuit. A delicious sable shortbread shaped like a dinosaur, we’d recommend pairing this with a Figbar hot chocolate (probably one of the best in Norwich!).
Maids Head Hotel, 20 Tombland
Treat the kids to something a bit special with the Maids Head Hotel’s children’s Dino Afternoon Tea. A totally dinolicious selection of treats are included, such as Dino Bones, Raptor Rolls, Brontosaurus Bites, Prehistoric Dirt and to wash it all down, a Raptor Punch.

As part of the City Food Trail, you can sample the Laba – T-Rezzed Edition New England IPA, brewed by Staggeringly Good. Soft, juicy, hazy, this beer is brewed using Citra and Mosaic as well as Cryo hops – a concentrated hop powder – to give it some extra roar.
The Ivy Norwich Brasserie, 30 London Street
Have a dino-mite time with The Dinosaur’s Tail cocktail from The Ivy. A refreshing, and delicious, blend of Cazabel coconut tequila, sugar syrup, fresh lime juice, and Fever-Tree Mexican lime and yuzu soda. Well, we’re certainly tempted!
