Do you make the best scones in Norfolk?

At Wroxham Barns, we’ve made over half a million scones in our kitchens since we opened in 1983. We think we’re pretty good at it, even if we say so ourselves, but maybe you think you could do better?

If so, here is the opportunity to put it to the test. Wroxham Barns will be hosting the annual Scone Competition on Sunday October 12 as part of the Bidwells Norwich & Norfolk Food Festival.

There will be four categories: plain scones, fruit scones, cheese scones and, new for 2008, a Freestyle category with any ingredients allowed!

Entrants should bring along four of their best freshly baked scones by 2.30pm on Sunday October 12 for judging. A complimentary cup of tea will be given to all entrants, while they wait for the judges’ decision.

All plain and fruit scones will be tasted with a locally-made raspberry jam and a dab of fresh double cream. All cheese scones will be tasted with butter. Judging will take place at 3pm and winners will be announced immediately thereafter.

The champion scone maker in each category will win a meal for four at our new restaurant café, with further prizes for second and third place.

Judges include Neil Haverson from Let’s Talk magazine.

If you would like to enter our scone competition, simply download and complete an entry form, then send it to Scone Competition, Wroxham Barns, Tunstead Road, Hoveton, Norfolk, NR12 8QU or bring it along with your scones on the day.
