Formal launch of the Festival's weekend activities

From our title sponsors, James Brooke, who heads Bidwells' Land & Business Consultancy in Norfolk, formally welcomes visitors to the Festival and launches the weekend's activities in and around the City of Norwich. The Festival is a celebration of Norfolk Fayre not only highlighting the wealth of Norfolk producers but also promoting the talented chefs and restauranteurs taking part in the Festival.

RNAA Norfolk Food Fair

The Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association presents a Food Fair of local producers at The Forum. Sample and buy delicious produce from a variety of local producers, ranging from pies, cakes and preserves, to local meats, vinegars, wines and beer.

John Lewis Cookery Theatre

Sponsored by John Lewis and hosted by Mary Kemp, Norfolk’s own cook and cookery writer is a highlight of the Food Festival and compulsive entertainment. Learn from or simply sit back and enjoy some of Norfolk’s leading chefs celebrating the great tastes of Norfolk with continuous cookery demonstrations. Our star-studded line-up includes: Caroline Seaman, Norfolk Food and Nutrition Co-ordinator; Matt Derges, The Game Keeper; Andy Parle, Freelance chef, outside caterer and catering consultant; Richard Knights, The Lavender House; John Kenny, Happy Hogs and Danny Smith, Animal Inns (subject to change on the day).

Baking at Byfords

Baking at Byfords is a fun and informative cookery session with Sue Barron, Byfords famous cake-maker. Join a small group of others behind the scenes at Byfords to learn the secret of Sue’s successful cakes and how to improve your own cake-making skills. Enjoy a practical scone-making session before trying the delicious scones for yourselves, and discover just why Byfords’ sponges are so big! Then after a leisurely lunch from the deli, you’ll take away a box of tempting Byfords’ cakes to tuck into later with your family and friends.

Trading Fairly: Going Local

Enjoy a talk by Graeme Hughes of Eostre Organics and a 2 course meal cooked using local, seasonal produce provided by Eostre. This event is part of the project Trading Fairly: Linking the Chain, which has been generously funded by Awards For All, an offshoot of the National Lottery. The project aims to stress the repercussions of our individual choices, and to show how every product we buy as consumers has a positive or negative impact upon our local, national and international communities.

Cookery Demo and River Trip with The Staithe Restaurant
