If 17 days (12 – 28 May) of jam-packed with amazing theatre, circus, live music, literature, exhibitions, free outdoor spectaculars and much more sounds right up your street, then Norwich is the place to be this May.
There’s plenty happening this week, so we’ve selected seven highlights (in no particular order):
One of the most iconic buildings in Norwich – the Bridewell – has a rather fascinating history…
Norwich is famed for many things: Colman’s Mustard, our amazing (at times) Football Club and, whether you love or loathe him, Alan Partridge! But something which people don’t always associate with Norwich (but really should) is shoes… high heels, kitten heels, boots and brogues; at some point over the years they would all have been made right here in Norwich!
Mark Twain said ‘Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see’…
Here are 7 fun things to do in Norwich and Norfolk this week - from theatre and guided tours to music from around the world and lantern workshops, we've got it covered!

One of the greatest landscape artists of the 20th century, Paul Nash, has an interesting story behind his pioneering career, and his love for landscapes was inspired by the wilds of North Norfolk (and there’s no better inspiration than our beautiful county, we think!)
Know what a Baby House is? Well, Strangers’ Hall in Norwich has one of the earliest (18th c.) surviving Baby Houses of its kind - incredibly detailed and meticulously assembled too. Baby houses pre-date the all familiar popular children’s toy – the Dolls House.
Here’s a story of bravery and battle, which took place right here in Norfolk thousands of years ago!
Casanova wasn’t just a legendary lover; he had real substance, you know! With so many other talents under his belt he would no doubt have been horrified to know his legacy today largely focuses on his womanising ways...
Here’s a romantic and inspiring story which has sprung from an unexpected source: the discovery of an ancient gold seal matrix in Norfolk.
If you want to feel like you’ve stepped straight into South America without straying from Norfolk, Amazona Zoo is the place to be!
Get yourselves organised – next week it’s half term, so there’s plenty going on in and around Norwich. Too many activities to list, actually, so we’ve selected our top family-friendly highlights:
