This blog is for those who love to live, those who are inspired to travel at the drop of a hat, those who want to try something different, those who are willing to take a chance doing something they wouldn’t usually choose to do. And it’s all about choice, discovering, exploration and experiencing whether you have travelled hundreds of miles or just around the corner.
Sara, L and Mel are behind the posts and we will be regularly sharing our knowledge about Norwich and its surrounds with those who already visit Norwich, those who live or work here, and those who may never have set foot in Norwich before and don't know what they're missing out on!
We’re in the fortunate position to be friends with many, many people, people who have intimate knowledge of our city’s history and architecture, shopping, food and drink, attractions, events, places to stay .. you get the picture. We’ll be bringing you inspirational and unmissable experiences, taking you behind the scenes, reviewing events and places before they open and getting under the skin of what this city is all about.
We will be sharing stories and snippets of information that we think you'll enjoy, in fact that we hope you’ll love; some may be through the written word, some filmed, captured in images or in creative writing, but all will be about Norwich and its people, past, present & future.
I'm a former news journalist and have worked in media & marketing for 15 years. My passions are writing and travelling; bringing people the best local experiences through the City of Stories is a great way to combine the two. I have definitely been bitten by the travel bug, I once dropped everything to take a solo backpacking trip to the other side of the world. Two years later – after skydiving in Australia, practising yoga in Bali and partying in Thailand – I decided it was time to get my feet out of the sand and back behind a desk. For the time being I'm all about the staycation as I've just had my first child.
I’m an excitable English literature graduate whose favourites include travelling, good food, intriguing events (nothing is off the table; fire tricks classes are a current favourite), squashy-faced animals (particularly pugs) and a good G&T. I joined VisitNorwich in 2014 in a Digital Marketing role and now I’m writing for the City of Stories blog. Having always loved Norwich since coming here in 2008 to study at UEA, getting to research and write about all the wonderful surprises and experiences Norwich has to offer is the perfect way to spend a working week!
In a former life I worked at British Airways; exciting destinations, travel experiences, people and travel writing always at the forefront of my work and personal trips. On moving back to my native Norfolk I joined VisitNorwich where I am now the PR manager. Life and travel remains exciting, Norwich (and Norfolk) holds suitcases full of hidden gems, fascinating people and plenty of stories going way back. There's always something to write about, always somewhere to visit and constant cultural things to do here. Life is non-stop but I wouldn't have it any other way.
